sushi saturday by megan

Hey y’all! I hope Saturday has been fun for everyone. Oh, I just love the weekend 🙂 Don’t y’all?

I’ve been watching the Healthy Living Summit LIVE…here. It’s been sooo informative and I wish I was in Boston right now! But, I am not and that’s okay! Because, tonight is sushi and I could not be more content. My parents, me, and a family friend whom I have not seen in a while are going to sushi at Sake Cafe. I love Sake…the one Uptown to be exact. There are many Sake locations all over the New Orleans/Metro area, but the one Uptown on Magazine Street is definitely the one I prefer. The sushi rolls are always presented so beautifully and everything is always fresh and bursting with flavor. And, the rolls are always large and hold their shape well. A pet peeve of mine is when a sushi roll falls apart, in between chopsticks, on the way to your mouth! Not necessary or fun!

So, last night my Uncle’s birthday party was a lot of fun, the Saints won (woohoo!) their first pre-season game, and we all enjoyed a lot of this…

IMG_7711and it was really yummy. Cookie Cake is one of my favorite cakes. Cookie Cake and the Berry Chantilly from Whole Foods. I am always happy when I am able to have a slice of either of these cakes. Aren’t cakes such a blessing? Yes, they are!

I hope your weekend is going beautifully so far…full of cake and sushi!

thankful thursday by megan

Hi! In honor of Polly…I am so thankful that it is Thursday…aren’t you? Because tomorrow is Friday and Friday is one of my favorite days…along with Sunday and Monday (morning only). I am thankful for lots of things today!

I am thankful that it did not rain last night and the Harrison Avenue Market Place was not canceled! Of course, I was so busy I did not take any pictures and I am so sorry about that. My church was in charge of kid stuff, basically. We had a face painting booth and games. My friend Kiki and I were in charge of games. It was really just one game, “pick a stick”. It was so fun! Kids lined up to pick a maximum of 3 sticks and if any of their sticks had orange on the bottom they won a prize! Of course, I let the kids pick sticks until they got an orange bottomed one, whoops! I just didn’t enjoy the thought of sending them away without a prize. So, I didn’t! The kids and parents were so appreciative that we had games and face painting to entertain the kids with…it’s such a blessing to make people happy!

I am thankful for lunch because at lunch I ate a pluot. Which is a cross hybrid of a plum and an apricot. If you did not know.

and it may be my new favorite fruit! I’ve been on a peach kick for quite some time now. The pluot was small and sweet and  I liked it very much! Small fruit are so cute.

I am thankful for my iPod touch I got yesterday. I love it so, so much! It is so cool…it’s the iPhone without the phone. Is it strange that I get online on my iPod touch more than on my MacBook? I’m just so excited about it I find myself twittering from it and checking facebook even though my MacBook is 2 feet away from me!

Oh! And I am thankful that I am cooking dinner tonight…some type of Orzo Chicken dish with goat cheese and grape tomatoes! I got the recipe from Cooking Light. I will let y’all know how it turns out. But it does have my favorite ingredient, goat cheese, in it so I am pretty confident it’s gonna be a winner 🙂

The Healthy Living Summit starts today! If any of y’all are headed to Boston or are there I hope y’all have a great time! I know it is going to be such a good thing. I wish I was able to go. Maybe next time! I am very thankful for all of the fabulous ladies behind HLS. They are seriously some inspiring and beautiful bloggers.

And most of all I am thankful for this:

“…Don’t be afraid, friend. Peace. Everything is going to be all right. Take courage. Be strong.” – Daniel 10:18-19

The agenda for the rest of the day:

– find a vegan brownie recipe

– study for PRAXIS II

physique 57 at 4:30 with Lizzy

– cook dinner

– some guilty pleasure TV watching tonight…Housewives of Atlanta, anyone?

Have a gorgeous Thursday, dolls!
