that kind of day by megan

do you ever have those days where you simply can not concentrate? well, that’s the kind of day i am having today. there are so many things i could be/should be doing right now, but i’m just feeling a little lost. i really want to watch movies in my bed with an endless supply of coffee all day…

but i can not watch movies and drink coffee all day, so i need to make the most of the day ahead of me. which means studying biology and PRAXIS flashcards.

at least i am all cozy in my new sweatpants that arrived yesterday evening! they are so soft…they make me smile ๐Ÿ™‚

Photo 109don’t they look super cozy?

happy tuesday!

relaxing rain by megan

Good morning, y’all!

It is such a rainy day down here today…it is not a pretty sight. But, oddly, I am not minding the rainy day today. It just seems right…kind of relaxing in a way. This week has been so fast paced for me. The rain seems to slow down the craziness. It also is very calming to my nerves in a way. Tomorrow is the PRAXIS test…bright and early at 7:30 am. I am nervous, but at the same time I am feeling good about it. My friend and I are meeting this afternoon for coffee to take a practice test. We are giving ourselves 2 hours to take it, because we will have 2 hours to take the test tomorrow morning. Hopefully the practice test helps!

I woke up this morning ready to go to the gym, but I still have not made it out of the house yet. The rain is just making me want to stay inside this morning! So, I am. I don’t mind. I have been wanting to do some Physique 57 anyway, so it all works out ๐Ÿ™‚

I have been doing some thinking about my new bedroom lately and besides having a bookshelf in my room I also would love wallpaper. I want to wallpaper one wall in my bedroom. Preferably the wall behind my desk. But, I suppose we shall see what works best. Here are some wallpaper photos I am adoring right now…

{source}

I love this wall paper. It’s a little kooky but it is so bright! It makes me smile ๐Ÿ™‚ And, I think it’s important to smile when you walk into your bedroom.

{source}

I love this! Wallpaper you can write on? So cool!!! Maybe I could put this in my future classroom? That would be so flippin’ cool. The wallpaper is actually pictures of blank frames and children can draw pictures inside the frames. Love it. That could actually be really neat in a bedroom. I mean, I would totally draw all over it! It’s called Blank Frame Wallpaper from The Land of Nod.

I love these. Especially the yellow. My bedding is black & white currently, so I think the yellow would be so fun! And, notice how the flowers are raised. You can touch them!

I love, love, love this green! It’s like a grass green. So pretty! I have a big, tall green lacquered candle holder from Pottery Barn that matches this green wallpaper. And besides loving the color of this paper I love the print, too! Oh, and the green bike with the basket…love that too!

Okay, that’s enough! I could look at wallpaper and rooms all day long ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to design my new bedroom when we move! What do y’all think of wallpaper?

I hope your day is lovely. Happy Friday, pies!

thankful thursday by megan

Hey guys! Happy (thankful) Thursday ๐Ÿ™‚ Right now, I am thankful for my warm cup ofย  French Market coffee that I am enjoying oh so much!

I am also thankful that I am able to cook dinner tonight for my family! A few months ago I started cooking dinner for my family once a week, usually something healthy and easy. I really enjoy cooking and I am so thankful that I have the chance to do so. It was not until a few months ago that I began to show interest in using the stove and oven, instead of only relying on the good old microwave. I guess I thought the microwave got the job done in half the time a stove or oven would. But, I am beginning to enjoy spending time preparing meals. There is so much love and effort behind a meal. And, I really love sitting down with my family to eat what I’ve prepared…at the dinner table, at the same time (like we used to every single night when Lizzy and I were growing up…before college and jobs and boys took place)! Family dinner is a rare occurrence and is usually reserved for Sundays, but I notice our family dinner beginning to take place more and moreย  during the work week and it’s lovely.

So, anyway the menu for tonight is Grilled Tilapia with Smoked Paprika and Parmesan Polenta. It’s a Cooking Light recipe and sounds delicious, healthy, and simple. I can’t wait to get in the kitchen later! I mean look at what will be the result…

Happy Thursday!

waiting by megan

Currently I am sitting in my room waiting for a delivery. My sister, Lizzy, ordered a Mac a few days ago and today is the day it should be arriving. So, since I am unemployed I get the thrill of waiting for the delivery so Lizzy won’t have to drive to UPS and pick it up. It’s fine though because it is an excuse for me not to go to the gym and…practice yoga instead! Did I tell you that Lizzy and I had the bright idea to order Physique 57 DVD’s? Well we did. And my legs are as sore as they have ever been in my life. After one 35 minute workout. But, it is a good sore! We are doing it again tomorrow. Oh goodness. So, the soreness in my legs is why I think yoga is a better idea than cardio is for today. We will see.

Nothing too exciting going on today. It’s rainy down here. I have fun plans for the afternoon though- if the rain doesn’t get in the way, that is! I am meeting my friend, Jen, for coffee and if it does not rain off to Lakeview for the Harrison Ave. Marketplace.

I am so excited about the market. My church is a sponsor and I have never been before so I am really looking forward to it. There’s live music and food and crafts and cooking demonstrations. It’s such a wonderful thing! I am going to be helping out with the kids booth…most likely with crafts and such. I will try to take pictures.

I hope y’all have a gorgeous Wednesday. And, as for me I am off to do some yummy yoga ๐Ÿ™‚

monday musings by megan

Happy Monday, pies! I just love Monday’s. It’s the beginning of a new week. A fresh start. I love embracing that thought.

I had the strangest thing happen to me this morning. Okay, so yesterday my lovely friend called and invited me over to her house to play cards tonight, or so I thought it was tonight. On the way home from the gym this morning I had a strange feeling that I misunderstood the invite…and called my friend up. Turns out the invite was for last night as in Sunday night, not Monday night like I thought! We had a good laugh about the mix-up!ย  Has this ever happened to y’all?

I have been on the lookout for a new coffe travel mug and yesterday at Starbucks I stumbled upon their new African inspired line. And, I bought this little gem

IMG_7643I love the colors and the fact that it is a real piece of hand crafted African fabric under the plastic covering. It’s just beautiful to me. I can’t wait to use it!

I browsed through half of the September Lucky this morning. I adore the thickness of the September issues. It makes me very happy.

IMG_7644I like to take my time reading Lucky. I usually browse it at the gym and then when I am comfortable at home I study it and then litter it with my “Yes!” and “Maybe” tabs. So far my favorite page in this issue is this:

IMG_7646I love the look of mixing floral prints. I will be brave this fall and venture into the world of mixed prints.

I’m reading the book of Daniel this week. If anyone wants to join me.

It is very hot, humid, and sunny down here today…with rain to come. I hope y’all are staying cool and dry where ever you may be.

I hope y’all enjoy your day to the fullest!

bon apetit by megan

good morning, lovelies! Happy Friday!!!

My oatmeal has been consumed and my coffee has been drunk (drank?). I am ready for the day!

So, Harry Potter ย was so good last night…I love him. Today I am going to see yet another movie…

I am so excited to see this one! I have the book but haven’t opened it yet.

I wish you all a bright and beautiful Friday morning!
